Review: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

First off…. the Curious Case of Benjamin Button is exceptional. I am not exaggerating, this may be one of my favorite movies of all time. The movie is based on an F. Scott Fitzgerald short story.

Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett are both amazing. Pitt has real star quality and the movie allows him to showcase his acting chops. Even as an old man  I found him completely adorable. It’s easy to fall in love with him, at any age. Perhaps a good indicator that he will still have audiences well into his golden years.

Blanchett’s character offer a different take on the traditional female romantic lead. Her character is fanscinating, she treads the line of strong woman and delicate flower. I find it to be very realistic. No woman is one or the other.

The effects are also amazing. Pitt’s makeup as an old man is a sight to see.

The love story is amazing and also heartbreaking. Benjamin (Pitt) and Daisy (Blanchett) find there lives to intersect just at the precise nugget in time. The movie is about that perfect moment of being in love, when you finally catch up with each other. It’s almost painful to watch parts of the movie because the audience has an idea of how it is going to end.

The movie tugs at your heartstrings from beginning to end and deserves many OSCARS!  It’s already been nominated for five Golden Globe awards. A must see, go see it now!

  1. i was pleasantly surprised to find out that F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote the short story upon which Benjamin Button (the movie) was based, they mention this in the opening credits
